How Strong Is Your Retirement Storyline?
The story you hear about retirement in brochures always seems to follow the same pattern. You see photos of happy people playing golf, lounging on the beach, taking dream vacations, or bouncing grandchildren on their knees. These are attractive stories, but they’re not necessarily how you truly want your retirement to unfold.
As you plan to save and invest, I would advise you to think about your personal retirement storyline. It’s literally like a movie where you’re the main character, set designer, producer, and author all rolled up in one.
You get to decide what your character does every day, who they surround themselves with, and what their “setting” looks like: i.e. home, small business, volunteer work, etc. Most importantly, the plot of your story has a distinct beginning and end. What will your character learn, and how will that person grow as a result?
I’ve developed this four-minute assessment to help you gauge the strength of your storyline. After you finish, I’ll email you a few tips to help develop your unique story.
